If you aren’t fortunate enough to have an extra room to convert into a perfectly tempered wine cellar, you may find yourself grappling with a proper spot to store your burgeoning wine collection.

While it may seem easiest to store your wines in a kitchen cupboard, chill them in the fridge (or wine fridge), or stack them across a drinks trolley, we have found something we consider a counter-top wine cellar: The Silo Wine Rack by Swedish designers Massproductions, which holds your wine bottles securely and in a horizontal position.

The design is based on a continuous loop, Massproductions’ co-founder and designer Chris Martin created the wine rack in an unbroken line of wood, where the bottles rest firmly in milled-out compartments.

To mimic the proper storage you would find in a professionally-designed wine cellar, the racks are designed so the bottles lie at a 3.87 degree inclination, which keeps the wine in constant contact with the cork, (this stops the cork from drying out and spoiling the wine).

Pulling its name from both containers and the friend of the Greek wine god, Silenus, this wine rack has a typology taken from traditional wine cellars, allowing it to store 4 bottles per layer and can be stacked up to four units high. Now, how does having a collection of 16 bottles of perfectly-store wine in your kitchen sound?
