ARRCC’S Cheetah Plains Game Lodge makes the 2019 Dezeen Awards list
Featured in the July 2019 issue of Cond é Nast House & Garden, Cheetah Plains is a new luxury Game Lodge located on the border of The Kruger National Park in the Sabi Sands Game Reserve. The lavish lodge is a unique balance between the wild outdoors and interior luxe and was designed by ARRCC with décor by OKHA.
Cheetah Plains has since been longlisted for the prestigious 2019 Dezeen Awards in the Hotel and Short Stay category. The prestigious Dezeen Awards are renowned for identifying and rewarding the world's most astonishing and creative architectures, interiors and designs.

According to ARRCC, the focus of the Cheetah Plains project was to avoid the typical typology of creating a central communal space surrounded by bedroom suites which resulted in accommodation that has been split into three separate, private components now known as the Plains Houses.
The Plains Houses are free-standing buildings carefully arranged to accommodate existing natural features such as trees and views. With this minimal intrusion into the natural environment, the designers’ hopes are that over time nature will soften and absorb the sculptural masses into their environment.

Director of ARRCC, Jon Case, shared that they are the only African firm to be longlisted for the awards.
“ARRCC is honoured and grateful to be selected alongside some of the best designers in the industry for the 2019 Dezeen Awards. We are very proud that South African talent is celebrated on the International stage,” said Jon.
