Espresso Lab is Cape Town's Newest Modern Cafe for Design Lovers
It’s no secret that Cape Town plays host to a plethora of coffee shops, making it feel like a new café opens up on every corner every week. While the market may seem saturated, each coffee shop forms a sort of anchor in any neigbourhood where friends gather, business associates meet, and baristas create their stunning coffees adorned with rosettas.
The latest café to open its doors in 2024 is Espresso Lab’s newest branch in Green Point, perfectly sandwiched between the busy streets and the colourful homes that line De Waterkant. Here, you can find speciality coffee poured in a space we can only describe as architectural splendour. With neighbouring coffee shops like the stylish Loading Bay a few blocks away, Pauline’s just down the road, as well as Plato Coffee nearby too, Espresso Lab proves Green Point is the place to be for good coffee and design in Cape Town’s city centre.
This branch has opened its doors exactly 15 years after Espresso Lab opened their roastery at the Old Biscuit Mill in Woodstock, marking a new frontier for speciality coffee roasters where creativity meets visual and sensory stimulation, as well as some of the best beans in the city.
With stores and cafés all around the world, Cape Town’s newest Espresso Lab branch shares a common style with its counterparts in countries like Portugal, Turkey, Germany, and Egypt. The lower level provides ample seating through a central seating area with stools, perfect for quick coffees and catch ups.
Upon heading to the coffee shop’s upper level, which houses a coffee atelier, you are flanked by a cosy area perfect for opening up your laptop to the left, and a futuristic round table that promotes not only café productivity, but socialising.
