Your Bathroom Needs Some Fancy Toilet Paper (Yes, Really!)
Recently, I moved into an apartment where the bathroom has pretty much no storage space. Like, zero. The experience is causing me to really work hard at keeping my mountain of product samples organized, my towels neatly folded, and my toilet paper properly arranged. There's no stashing a cache of TP behind a cabinet door in my bathroom. So, beyond tossing a few sad-looking mega-rolls in a chic basket, what's a girl to do? I may have actually wondered this out loud, because thanks to that creepy thing where your phone listens to you, I recently started to see beautifully packaged toilet paper everywhere. Suddenly, there were floral-patterned rolls peppering my Instagram feed and brightly coloured rolls in the ads on my newsletters. Long story short? I went for it. I pressed the buy button. And now, I'm so into having a stack of pretty paper goods in my bathroom that I'm telling you to do it too.
The best part? Many of the brands behind this fancy toilet paper trend are using more sustainable materials and offering easy, affordable delivery options and subscriptions. Here, we're highlighting some of the winning rolls we've seen and tried.
Bippy
The new personal care line Bippy is on a mission to preserve forests with its “tree-free” bamboo toilet paper and wet-wipe alternative. After discovering that 27,000 trees are chopped down per day in the United States just to make toilet paper, cofounders Lisa Frame and Isidro Hurtado decided to do something about it and created Bippy. Using bamboo fibres—a supersoft and 100% renewable alternative—helps remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, too. For more lols with your brightly packaged product, Bippy has a humorous and informative blog, too.

No. 2
Another bamboo option comes from No. 2, a brand that is big on fashionable patterns with wrappers that are made from 100% recycled paper printed with soybean ink that show off florals, animal prints, and geometric shapes. No. 2 claims its TP will provide a better wiping experience, "because unlike other brands it is strong, silky, and butt-crumble free" (a phrase I never thought I'd be typing). I can attest: The 3-ply stuff really is great!

Peach Goods
For sophistication and subtly, you've got Peach Goods, which provides a pattern of pastel-coloured embossed peaches on every sheet. This soft, durable bathroom tissue is made in the U.S. out of organic, FSC-certified sustainable ingredients with 100% recyclable packaging. The company provides a transparent, fair-wage supply chain, and 10% of the profits from every sale goes to Safe Horizon, an organization that helps survivors of domestic abuse, human trafficking, and child abuse. If you become so in love with your fruity TP, the concierge service can adjust delivery dates, locations, and order sizes as needed so you get your Peach Goods whenever, wherever.

Who Gives a Crap
Who Gives a Crap started with a crowdfunding campaign on IndieGoGo in 2012 and the realization that 2.3 billion people across the world don't have access to a toilet. The first product was delivered in 2013 and the company has been growing ever since. Using bamboo keeps the products durable and sustainable (did you know bamboo requires no tending, irrigation, or fertilization, and needs to be harvested only once a year?), and the company has expanded its goods to paper towels and facial tissues. Plus, aesthetically speaking, the packaging is really cute with colourful stripes, black-and-white shapes, and buildable geometric characters. WGAC strives to maintain both constant toilet humour and making the world a better place, which it seems to be succeeding in—to date it has donated more than $1.8 million Aussie dollars (that’s the equivalent of over $1.3 million U.S.) to charity.
