Watch: An Old Ice-Cream Factory is Reimagined Into a Modern Family Home

In an exciting home tour, the husband and wife design duo behind Pinch Designs, Russell Pinch and Oona Bannon offer a unique glimpse into their countryside home, which once housed a dilapidated ice cream factory. The dwelling is beautifully framed by the UK’s signature rolling hills and shrubs filled with shasta daisies.

In the bucolic countryside of Devon, the home is designed to be an escape from the couple’s busy city life. Drenched in warm colours like ochre, burnt orange, and biscuity tones, the home is also sunken into the ground making one feel like they are immersed into the garden, although being inside.

A result of honed skills from furnishing and designing other homes, this under-the-radar project for the couple proves to the nourishing power of simplicity.

A key takeaway from this transformed home? The fact that you don’t need to have a single type of wood in one space, but a menagerie of wooden textures and colour that bounce off each other ranging from oak, cherry, ash, and douglas fir, says Russell Pinch.
