Let’s be honest, gift-giving happens at all times of the year. If you don’t celebrate Christmas or Valentine’s Day, there are birthdays, weddings and baby showers to buy gifts for. Now, once you’ve found the perfect gift to give, it’s time to wrap it up and make it look good. However, if your skills leave much to be desired - here’s some helpful tips to get your gifts looking beautiful.
Think about using cloth
@thesamesstyle Wrapping with fabric is such a unique way to wrap a gift. It’s also very inexpensive, I bought this fabric from the dollar store. It’s reusable and very pretty. The best of both worlds! How to: 1. Start with a square shaped piece of fabric 2. Lay your fabric out with corner facing you 3. Place gift in Center 4. Fold over fabric from the top and bottom 5. Tie remaining sides of fabric together and tuck excess fabric underneath the knot . . . . . . . . . . . #wrappingpaper #diywrapping #giftwrap #giftwrappingideas #holidaywrapping #christmaswrapping #christmaswrappingpaper #christmasdiy #christmasdecor #christmasbudget #holidaydecorating #christmasinspiration #christmasinspo #holidayinspo #prettygifts #christmasdesign #christmasblogger #christmasideas #christmastime #christmashomedecor #christmashome #xmasdiy #holidaydiy #holidaystyle #christmasstyle #christmasstyling #makeyourown #giftgivingideas #rusticstyle ♬ Famous Christmas songs / Orchestra arrangement(150588) - MIZUSATO Masaki
No cellotape? No problem. One of the easiest ways to wrap up a present is to use fabric offcuts you have around or use a scarf. If this seems familiar, you’ve probably heard about the Japanese wrapping cloths called furoshiki. The square shaped cloth is used to wrap up gifts or items and can be reused by the receiver.

Have you seen those cool pleated wrapped gifts? It’s such a unique way to utilise wrapping paper to make it multi-functional. You can pop a card or two in the pleated folds or just add a little bit of greenery to the gift, so it stays in place.
Size doesn’t matter

Oddly shaped gifts can be a pain, but before you reach for a gift bag - there are ways to work around shape and size. Often it just means working around your material or wrapping paper and using some additional time to create something that fits. In the TikTok above, the creator makes an entirely new paperbag for an awkwardly shaped mug.
Happy wrapping!
