Avoid making a chore of choosing a colour palette for your bathroom by following these expert tips from Karen Steyn, owner of The Home Studio and LIQUIDRed, Bathroom Butler’s accessory and tapware range.
Decide On A Theme
Deciding on the theme you want in your bathroom space; perhaps monochrome vs bold colours will make your décor process easier. Karen suggests identifying your colour preferences by considering the colours of your clothing choices, as these colours often extend to other elements of your life, including your home.
‘Shades of the same palette will not only prevent your space looking like one colour exploded in it, but also provide contrast and dimension, adding a new level of sophistication to your room design,’ Karen said.
For instance, blush pink can be complemented and contrasted with darker shades such as burgundy and dusky rose or, rose gold bathroom accessories and tapware.
‘If you’d like to include colour but are not confident enough to include a variation of a few shades, stick to the rule of 3 and choose only 3 colours to work with,’ says Karen.
For a monochrome look or Scandinavian style, she suggests paying attention to the natural elements in the space such as wood and concrete.

Neutral Colours
‘Regardless of the colour theme, I suggest keeping the materials and/or finishes to a neutral colour,’ says Karen, ‘by keeping these more permanent features neutral, it becomes easier to change your colour palette at a later stage.’
Karen added that if you are looking to decorate or refurbish any space in their home, a Pinterest board will help validate and evolve selected colour schemes.
