With Eid ul Adha just a few days away, many Muslims the world over are readying themselves to celebrate this auspicious occasion. In the Islamic faith, Eid ul Adha marks the peak of the Hajj pilgrimage.
The day commemorates Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) and his obedience to his creator and willingness to sacrifice his son on the Almighty’s command. However, after Ibrahim submitted to his Lord’s will, his son was instead replaced by a great sacrifice.
This is a day for the remembrance of God’s mercy, family, and sharing what we have with others. Food, and coming together as a family around a table is, therefore, a wonderful way to celebrate.
Now, with winter in full force in South Africa, and that dreaded cold front refusing to leave Cape Town, in particular, we have the perfect ideas for Eid desserts you should.
1. Cream pastries

If you love puff pastry, this recipe is definitely a must-try. This dessert is sweet, delectable, and easy to prepare. If you’re allergic to pistachios, replace them with fruits or any toppings of your choice.

This recipe is wonderful – especially for those of us who love chocolate. Make this tiramisu for your entire family to enjoy. While this may not be the warmest dessert for winter, at least one chocolate treat is essential for any table.
3. Cupcakes for the win

These caramel-filled, creamy cupcakes are absolutely mouthwatering and lovely for the entire family – and especially those who have an extra-sweet sweet tooth. The cupcakes can be prepared the night before Eid and decorated on the day, if you’re worried about loadshedding.
