Greenhouse Restaurant head Chef Farrel Hirsch and The Marine head Chef Tronette Dippenaar have been crowned winners at the 3rd annual ‘Clash of the Chefs’ held at Marlenique Estate in Franschhoek.
The team wowed an esteemed panel of judges, which included Chef Matt Manning, Sebastian Janssens and Ben Ungermann of MasterChef Australia fame.
The duo were crowned victorious after a 60-minute cook-off that saw teams prepare dishes using ingredients drawn from a mystery box.
Proceeds for the event have gone to this year’s chosen charity: Safe Hands Animal Rescue Franschhoek (SHARF), a small animal welfare organisation in the Franschhoek Valley, which aims to sterilise as many animals as possible, along with providing animal welfare workshops to local communities and assisting animals in distress and in need of medical attention.
At least R100 000 was raised at the Clash of the Chefs charity auction for Safe Hands Animal Rescue.
