Over a year ago, Somizi and Mohale tied the knot in an extravagant four-part ceremony.
‘Telling our love story was not just about us as a couple, but it was also about making this a norm since people frown upon same-sex relationships, especially in a lot of African countries. So, igniting what we have really ignites what other people could have’, said Mohale Motaung.
Since then, the couple has been non-stop hustling with Somizi Mhlongo continuing his work as a TV and radio personality while Mohale builds his modelling and acting career.
‘People think once you’ve ‘made it’ you can just relax. It doesn’t work like that. The higher you get, the harder you have to work’, said Somizi.
To celebrate their anniversary the couple booked a luxurious safari getaway at the &Beyond Ngala Treehouse. The sustainably powered treehouse is situated in the middle of the reserve and drew its décor and design inspo from the surrounding nature and enormous Marula trees around it. The Treehouse is four stories high, features a dark-wood kitchen, a copper-accented bathroom, a spacious bedroom among the trees and a rooftop to gaze at the starlit sky after sunset.
While there, the couple enjoyed an unforgettable game drive through the Ngala reserve, gourmet meals prepared by the resident chef and quality time in the remote and romantic location.
