It was only a matter of time. Turns out, Kim Kardashian West is not just content infiltrating the worlds of fashion and beauty. Now, according to a report from E! News, the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star is set to launch her own homewares line, too.
In documents obtained by E! News, it seems the reality TV star has recently trademarked KKW Home, perhaps hoping to follow in the ultra-successful footsteps of other celebrity turned-lifestyle-queens, such as Gwyneth Paltrow and Reese Witherspoon. Or, perhaps she’s set her sights even higher and is hoping to take on the doyenne of American home decor herself–Martha Stewart.
Either way, she’s certainly got a captive audience. While Kardashian West has not publicly made an announcement on any of her social media channels or personal website, the documents obtained by E! News list the following items under the newly created trademark: "towels, shower curtains, textiles for home furnishings, comforters, aromatherapy diffusers, bath products, body sponges, bathroom candles, household containers for storing and organizing cosmetics". So we’re guessing it won’t be a small line.
The move follows the launch of Kardashian West’s first-ever scented candle last September, which was housed under her KKW Fragrance line, and was perhaps a hint at what was yet to come. Certainly, her foray into homewares is not so surprising, given the star’s current empire, which includes shapewear brand Skims and an ever-expanding fragrance and beauty line KKW Beauty.
Plus, there’s the influence of her husband Kanye West. A design and architecture aficionado who counts Belgian designer Axel Vervoordt as a friend and frequent co-collaborator, West is no stranger to the world of interiors himself. The couple enlisted Vervoordt to help conceptualise and execute their sleek, minimalist home in Los Angeles (which you can tour here) and it’s no doubt reflected in their taste for natural tones and stark simplicity.
While we have no idea what Kim’s homewares line might look like, based on her Skims, KKW Beauty and interiors taste alone, we’re predicting a neutral palette and a modern aesthetic. As for the timeframe of KKW’s launch, we’ve no doubt they won’t launch anything until the time is exactly right. Because if you can count on the Kardashian-Jenner clan for anything, it’s that they have a plan. Watch this space for updates.
