Created by GUBI, ‘Tactile Encounters’ is the new range of furnishings that invites one to explore these points of intersection and to celebrate the sensory richness of layered spaces, where look and feel are harmoniously aligned.
Later this year, the brand dives deep into the allure of the tactility and the emotional power of colour. The new launches are an exploration of materiality, encompassing the rawness of natural stone, the polished perfection of plexiglass, the malleability of metal, the extraordinary potential of new material technologies – and the aesthetic possibilities of that often-overlooked material, light itself.
Tiger Tiger Sitting Bright
In addition to Tactile Encounters, Renowned Italian textile-design house Dedar joins GUBI for an unexpected tactile encounter with the animal majesty of the tiger. Inspired by the hypnotic pattern of the big cat's stripes, Dedar leads visitors on an immersive journey into the jungle.
Tactile Encounters’ visual concept takes its inspiration from the work of Anni and Josef Albers – the pioneering 20th century Bauhaus artists whose work, writing, and teaching transformed our understanding of the relationship between colour and perception, art and craft.
Rooted in the relationship between colour and texture in the woven surface, Anni’s work in the field of textiles pushed the boundaries of weaving, elevating the beauty of fabric to the level of art. In parallel, Josef’s writings on colour theory, alongside works such as the abstract painting series ‘Homage to the Square’, explore the impact of colour and composition, and how shapes and layers influence visual experience.
In Tactile Encounters, GUBI has drawn upon Albers’ landscape of colours, forms, and textiles to graphically frame and contextualize a showcase of iconic and contemporary design.
