Renowned television Chef Pete Goffe-Wood has opened a trendy new restaurant in the winelands.
The restaurant in the heart of Paarl has been refurbished after its previous owners sold it to locals. The restaurant is at Paarl’s iconic Grande Roche Hotel.
The restaurant’s name is Viande, which is a French name that simply means “meat”, and is not only in line with the hotel’s name, but also a statement of culinary direction.

Viande's aim is to tell a story of provenance and will source local and organic produce wherever possible, in an effort to showcase smaller artisanal producers and endeavour to establish a traceable line from farm to fork.

Goffe-Wood said that Viande was open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, with Sunday brunch on the cards as well.
He added that the vision of the new restaurant was to make the place more accessible to the general public.
A fully stocked bar at the restaurant will absolutely be one of its main attractions, as it would be selling at least 80 percent locally made alcoholic beverages which include wines from Under Oaks.
The other areas which are absolutely to die for at the restaurants are the fire places which are well placed to face the majestic view of the vineyards outside.
