La Motte Wine Estate, an ideal setting for one of South Africa’s most sought-after food and wine events, is renowned for its authentic Cape Winelands charm, deep French Huguenot roots, and outstanding culinary experiences. After two highly successful seasons, La Motte is thrilled to announce JAN Franschhoek Season III.
This event takes place in the charming 18th-century Veepos cottage on the La Motte estate, surrounded by lavender fields and the stunning Franschhoek Valley mountains. The magic of JAN Franschhoek lies in Michelin-star awarded chef Jan Hendrick van der Westhuizen’s talent for merging the nostalgia of a South African family table with modern global culinary trends, creating a dining experience that is both comforting and innovative.
“Me and my team are more conscious than ever of preservation, not only with ingredients, but also places, experiences, and the people who continue to support us. I'm excited to be working on the new menu in collaboration with La Motte’s Head Chef Lara van Heerden, who has just spent three months with me in France. Season 3 will not only showcase international fine dining but will also place a special emphasis on hearty local cuisine.”, shares Jan Hendrik.
The menu features local ingredients with exotic touches, reinventing family traditions and regional favourites through seasonal themes. The lavender field setting, combined with Jan Hendrik’s international culinary expertise and the perfect pairing of food and wine, ensures each meal is one to remember. Season III of JAN Franschhoek promises to enchant guests while inviting them to savour the distinctive flavours and textures of this remarkable dining experience.
“As a family, we’ve always treasured our heritage, but at the same time we are all for renewal and energy. The third, eagerly awaited season of JAN Franschhoek kicks off the announcement of an extensive new offering at La Motte to be rolled out towards the end of the year. We are inspired by the gifts of the earth and how they are transformed by the talent and flair of artists such as Jan Hendrik.”, says La Motte CEO, Hein Koegelenberg.
JAN Franschhoek will be open for dinner from Wednesday to Saturday, from 4 September 2024 until 30 April 2025.
