There’s really nothing hotter than South African design right now – just ask anyone who’s walked into a Nando’s restaurant anywhere in the world!
These interiors feature bright and bold local designs that are sourced via the Nando’s Design Programme, Clout, and its online Portal to Africa – a dynamic catalogue of South African creativity.
Award winning designer lighting company Willowlamp has its sights set on joining the illustrious group of Clout designers whose work comprises Nando’s iconic décor – and has designed a brand-new range of chandeliers that has recently been included on the purchasing portal.

Adam Hoets, founder and creative director of Willowlamp, calls the bespoke lighting range ‘Audrey2’, after the carnivorous flower in the classic film Little Shop of Horrors.
These colourful, zany chandeliers – which come in combinations of red, black and white and blue, purple and green – are intended to add to Nando’s bright, local-is-lekker ambience. These fun, organic-inspired lights are easily customisable.
He uses a unique method that involves fixing ball chains to laser-cut steel frames. A tiny notch in the metal frame creates a chain curtain that is totally free from fasteners.
The result of this adaptable and versatile method is huge scope for creativity which has resulted in a vast range of intricate lighting designs, including lamps, pendants, chandeliers and art pieces.
Inspired by nature and sacred geometry, Hoets’ designs are masterpieces of both aesthetics and form. Today these works can be seen at a range of sites – including residential, retail, hospitality and commercial establishments.

“The design is a bit of a departure from willowlamp’s core brand, since the laser-cut metal frames are powder-coated mild steel, not brushed stainless steel, and the design uses very little chain,” reveals Hoets. “The lights will be available in various sizes and colour choices as the powder-coated frames allow for differentiation.”
