Bring yourself closer to Spain’s wild beauty and immerse yourself in the earthy tones and ambiance of this tranquil retreat in Ibiza, a ‘finca’ (usually referring to a rural estate) whose cactus strewn surroundings and a shimmering pool delights and soothes in equal measure.

Intricate with nods to the Spanish Finca style — typically known for exposed beams, a generous use of rough stone and thick stucco walls — there is a clear fusion of signature, clean and minimal Ibizan styles with contemporary sensibilities.

Behind the six-bedroom home's design is Natural Asthetik, and architecture by Ibiza-based Blakstad. Together, they've achieved a seamless blend of indoor and outdoor living to create a masterclass in the Spanish finca style.

‘It was crucial to create a space that felt authentically connected to the location without compromising the homeowners’ desire for contemporary aesthetics,’ says Tom Lawrence-Levy, founder of Natural Asthetik. ‘This way we were able to create a slightly modern interpretation of this classic style.’

Boasting a relatively neutral colour palette that mirrors the island’s essence, embracing soft, off-white and sandy tones complements rustic browns, especially found in the home’s exposed wooden beams and terracotta textiles. With terraced hills rising from the ocean, drawing inspiration from the landscape was key.

Although the home is a serene hideaway from the more vibrant parts of Ibiza, for which the location has accrued a famous reputation, the home’s raison d’etre is relaxation, rejuvenation and connection with family and friends.

It was built for a family who are avid entertainers, which informed the design brief for a home that is both refined, yet inviting and comfortable, says Tom. With a generous lay of seating and the intention of entertainment in mind, many of the furniture throughout the home are bespoke, with decor items carefully selected to complement custom pieces.

Both indoor and outdoor dining tables measure nearly four metres in length, while the coffee table spans over two metres to allow for communal festivities and comfortable living. ‘I love what we achieved with the dining room,’ says Tom. ‘I'm obsessed with the L'Aviva Home pendants and custom dining table we created. The scale of everything really makes the space special.
